The Twilight movies are more than a cultural sensation, they’re a financial phenomenon. The latest, Breaking Dawn, has ranked No. 1 at the U.S. box office for the past three weekends and has already earned $588 million worldwide. The entire franchise has brought in $2.4 billion so far and there’s still one more movie set for release next year.

It’s been a lot of reward for relatively little outlay. The first two movies were produced for $37 million and $50 million, respectively. The current film is the most expensive to date with an estimated budget of $110 million. Part of the reason the budget has risen is that stars Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson are getting paid more for playing Bella and her vampire boyfriend Edward, but they’re still not getting the $20 million paychecks that some big stars can command.

Twilight, Breaking Dawn: Part One might be just a bit too sparkly for epilepsy sufferers. Several people have reportedly developed seizures during the film’s infamous birthing scene, as red, black, and white flash across the screen, ABC News reports. In one case, a Sacramento-area man convulsed so violently that paramedics were called in, and the rest of the screening was canceled.

Movie theaters are prime spots for inducing seizures. “The trouble with theaters, it’s dark, the lights flashing in there is more like a strobe light,” explains one neurologist. “It’s like a light switch going off, because it hits your brain all at once.”

Kristen Stewart had to keep a swear jar on the set of ‘The Twilight Saga Breaking Dawn – Part 1′ to curb her “Tourettes”.

The 21-year-old actress’ character Bella Swan becomes a mother in the latest instalment of the vampire franchise, so she had a lot of scenes with a young child, leading her to make an extra – although not entirely successful – effort not to use curse words.

She told Empireonline.com: “I have, like, Tourette’s syndrome. I get so mad sometimes if I can’t get something. I have a child in Breaking Dawn and I constantly swear, so there is a swear jar on set that just I ended up paying into.

“Every single time she’d go, ‘I know what you just said!’ and I’d say, ‘No, you didn’t! You didn’t hear that!’ ”

Now that filming has finished on the ‘Twilight’ series, Kristen has moved onto other films, appearing in ‘On the Road’ and ‘Snow White and the Huntsman’, which has seen her move a further out of her comfort zone to embrace more diverse characters.

Kristen – who is in a relationship with her ‘Twilight’ co-star Robert Pattinson – added: “Well I have had a lot of experience playing very contemporary, very close to myself relatable parts, but I find that I have to have that feeling even if it is placed in a different context such as Snow White which is fantastical.

“I’m not, at least not yet, a character actor. But the last few parts that I have played, like I just played Marylou in ‘On the Road’, were so completely different to who I am that it made me realise I can push myself a little more.

“I can probably do things that aren’t within my comfort zone. Not that I try to stay there! It’s just that when you are a particular person you connect to certain things.”

One of the most anticipated scenes in The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn — Part 1? The long awaited wedding between Edward (Robert Pattinson) and Bella (Kristen Stewart). And considering how many people went to see the movie in theaters this weekend, plenty of people have now gotten to see the action for themselves. (But for formality’s sake, consider this your official SPOILER ALERT.)

We’ve already told you about why the Iron& Wine song that plays during the ceremony held special significance for some of the cast, but Stewart and Pattinson also tell EW about some of the things audiences didn’t get to see. For example, the moment when Pattinson channeled another actor while filming the speech he gives at the wedding to his new bride. “No one was there really,” he says. “Just a bunch of extras. And for one of the takes, I went into a total Christopher Walken impression. I don’t know why. [Director] Bill [Condon] said, ‘What just happened? Why are you suddenly playing this like Christopher Walken?’ And I just couldn’t get out of it. It’s one of the weirdest things that’s ever happened to me.” He laughs. “I wish it happened more often.”Another scene, featuring the Denali cousins (important because of their role in Breaking Dawn — Part 2, out November 2012) coming over to congratulate Bella and Edward, apparently didn’t make the final cut. “A little tiny piece of the scene made it into the movie,” explains Stewart. “It was the last thing we shot, at 4 a.m. We did my close-up last, and I was laughing — literally laughing! — just looking at these ladies. All of a sudden it seemed so ridiculous to me, like, who are all these people at my wedding?”

“That scene just went on and on. It felt like forever. I loved it,” laughs Pattinson. “I always like the scenes where Kristen loses it.” A bonus feature for the DVD, perhaps?
